The Regina Dragon Boat Festival

The Regina Dragon Boat Festival is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit organization established to foster better understanding, appreciation, and awareness of Asian culture and heritage within our community.

The festival is held in Regina’s beautiful Wascana Park and draws nearly 1,000 team participants and thousands of spectators. It’s a unique show of cross-cultural community spirit.

Join us in Wascana Park from August 26th to 28th to enjoy this fabulous sport and participate in our many activities including:

  • Children’s Village;
  • Cultural, Arts and Vendors Village;
  • International Food Vendors;
  • The Dragon’s Lair Tent and
  • Live entertainment for the whole family.

Opening Ceremonies will be held at City Plaza on August 26th. At the corner of Scarth Street & 12th Avenue. Fom 12:00pm  to 2:00pm.

Join us for a traditional ceremony by the Chung Ching Taoist Priests to Awaken the Dragon as well as other Chinese cultural performances of lion and dragon dances.

Children’s Village

Bring the family to enjoy the Dragon Boat Races and some great family-friendly activities.

An assortment of activities will be provided by local businesses, community & cultural groups for the whole family to enjoy. Interested in developing skills, like to build, want to have your picture taken in a dragon boat or decorate your own puppet? This is the spot for you.

Enjoy games, puzzles, races, family-friendly performances, traditional storytellers, and a variety of other fun activities each day from Aug 26, 12:00 – 6:00 & Aug 27 & 28 10 am – 6 pm.

Cultural, Arts & Vendors Village

Makers/Artist Gallery

Experience the excitement of creating, August 26 from 12:00 to 6:00 at our new Makers/Artist Gallery.

We will showcase some of Regina’s local Art and Craft creators.

This is your chance to meet the makers, ask questions about an art form or hobby you are interested in.

Learn how the art is created, watch demonstrations, participate in workshops, learn new skills and develop an understanding of what is really involved in the creation of these items.

Vendors Market

Explore our expanded vendors market on August 27 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.

There will be a large selection of hand-created items made locally including homemade arts, crafts, woodwork and many, many more.

Looking for your favourite spice, essential oil or kitchen item? This is the place for you, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.

Cultural Village

The new Cultural Village is a great place to come experience the great cultural tapestry that is right here in Regina.

Join us on August 28th from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. See what the local cultural groups offer to our community. Learn about their programming, festivals and other community offerings. Learn to write or speak a different language.

Try our new dance step at one of our workshops or participate in a cultural craft. Enjoy music, dance and other activities.

Food, Beverage & Entertainment

Enjoy some international flavours from the local food trucks. Relax with a cool beverage at our licensed Dragon’s Lair Tent, and watch some local artists perform on our stage.

There will be cultural performances, local bands and a few other surprises to be found at our stage area every day.

Come join the Scouts for a hot pancake breakfast…there will be Stacks ‘O’ Jacks freshly made for you to enjoy.

Breakfast includes 3 pancakes, 2 sausage rounds and juice or coffee for $10.00!

The Annual  Regina Dragon Boat Festival has been a long-time favourite event for paddlers, residents and visitors from across Canada.

Our city and dedicated volunteers welcome you to Regina’s beautiful Wascana Park for a summer experience of festival excitement and camaraderie second to none.
